Our work sits at the intersection of AI, education, and economic mobility and we are partnering closely with state agencies, school districts, colleges, workforce organizations, and other AI solution providers. Our goal is not simply to build products, but to use the emerging potential of AI to strengthen education-to-career systems at scale.
The Opportunity
As a Founding Data Scientist for Pathways AI and Analytics, you will play a critical role in our growing team. This role will work directly with our CTO and CEO to drive our analytics and evaluation systems that will inform strategic product decisions. You'll own and build the analytics infrastructure to continuously improve product impact, support our research, ensure AI quality, safety, and equity, and maintain data quality for our AI systems.
This role is ideal for data scientists with 8+ years of experience who want to see their work directly improve outcomes for learners of all ages and want ownership across analytics, research, and AI quality.
What You'll Do

Partner with our product team to identify the latest AI innovations aligned with our use case

Set the research strategy and use statistical methods to analyze how UX features and back-end AI systems can be optimized for learner engagement and impact on different learner groups

Identify and measure the successful use of our tools through event instrumentation, monitoring, and ongoing analysis of core outcome metrics

Share results of analyses with non-technical audiences in ways that help them develop insights about our offerings

Design and oversee AI safety and quality evaluations (bias detection, prompt performance, response quality)

Develop labeling strategies and quality assurance processes for our graph RAG knowledge base
What You'll Bring
-
8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related AI field
-
Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Metabase) for data storytelling

Experience designing and running A/B tests or correlational analyses

Familiarity with LLM evaluation methodologies or AI quality assurance
-
Experience working with research teams or supporting program evaluation
-
Clear communication skills for translating data into insights for non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have

Experience in education, workforce development, or public sector contexts

Familiarity with FERPA, COPPA, or student data privacy requirements

Experience with knowledge graphs or RAG systems
-
Background in qualitative research support or mixed-methods evaluation

Salary: $140K-$190K based on experience
